Ards Cricket Club Under 15 XI and Graham Cup team v Laurelvale on Mon 08 Jun 2015 at 6.30
Ards Cricket Club Won by 95 runs

Match report Ards Under 15's faced Laurelvale in their first home league fixture hoping to build upon the victory against North Down. On a sunny but breezy evening at Londonderry Park, Laurelvale won the toss and put Ards into bat. Openers Jack Smith and Harry Jackson batted very positively without playing any reckless shots to keep the scoreboard ticking along as Ards reached 44 after 8 overs. Smith in particular then put the accelerator down and with 13 and 17 runs coming from the next couple of overs which took Smith to a well-deserved 50 (with 4 maximums and 4 boundaries) meaning he had to retire. Jackson and Robbie Sinclair maintained the run rate of about 7 an over until Jackson (43 with 5 boundaries), was well caught and bowled by Speers just falling short of what would have been a well deserved half century with the total now having reached 3 figures. With the perfect platform in place Robbie Sinclair and Aaron Grimshaw stepped up the attack before the former was dismissed for 34 (including 2 maximums and 3 boundaries). Grimshaw, who made a quickfire 19no (with 2 boundaries), and Chris Murray 1no brought the Ards innings to a close on 158 off their allotted 20 overs, an excellent total with all of the top four batsmen making valuable contributions.

With a quick outfield Ards knew the job was only half complete and this mindset ensured there was no let up as skipper, Smith (3-1-8-2), dismissed both openers in his opening spell with fast swinging deliveries. It was then time for Under 13's player Calum McDaid to take centre stage with remarkable figures of 2-2-0-5 including 4 wickets in consecutive balls as he decimated Laurelvale's middle order. Chambers provided the only resistance with 37 as Ards gave 8 players an opportunity to bowl before he fell to Chris Murray (3-1-1-2), who then picked up a second wicket and Robbie Sinclair the other to bring Laurelvale's innings to a close on 63 ensuring a comprehensive 95 run victory for Ards. It goes without saying that the bowling plaudits go to Calum McDaid but he was well backed up by Jack Smith, Chris Murray, Robbie Sinclair and Aaron Grimshaw, who beat the bat on a number of occasions and was unlucky not to pick up a wicket on this occasion.

So Ards maintain their 100% record and will be looking to keep on improving and maintain this winning run playing away to Saintfield in their next game.
