Ards Cricket Club 2nd XI v Larne on Sat 03 Aug 2013 at 12.00
Ards Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Another good batting wicket produced over 300 runs in a match reduced to 30 overs per side, with Ards coming out on top by 5 wickets.
Three players made their season debuts for the team against a Larne side which needed the points to pull away from the bottom of the table. They batted first and as he had done in the previous game between the sides, wicket-keeper and stand-in captain on the day, Trevor Dempsey, was the mainstay of their innings, ending up on 47 not out. He was ably assisted by opener Ruis, but they found scoring difficult against the experienced change bowlers, Keenan and McCullough, and the team lost 3 wickets in the last 6 overs trying for a final acceleration which didn't happen. Nevertheless, they would have been confident that 158 was enough against the young home side.
After tea, Ards lost 3 early wickets, despite a blistering start from Paul Nihell. Debutants Andrew Wright and Sean Francis then came together in a stand which turned the game in Ards' favour. Sean batted patiently, whereas Andrew adopted his usual flamboyant style. He went on to make a magnificent 81, including 23 off one over near the end to virtually assure victory. After he was caught on the mid wicket boundary it was almost a formality for Matt Hulbert and Graeme Martin to knock off the remaining runs, which they did with over 2 overs to spare.
