Ards Cricket Club Under 15 XI and Graham Cup team v Bangor on Tue 04 Aug 2015 at 6.30
Ards Cricket Club Lost by 3 wickets

Match report Ards faced local neighbours Bangor in what was a 'must win' game to keep their outside chances of making the play-offs alive. Ards skipper, Jack Smith, won the toss and chose to bat hoping to put a big total on the board which his side could defend. With top order batsmen Robbie Sinclair and Aaron Grimshaw unavailable there was added pressure on the others to step up to the mark. Unfortunately Ards got off to a poor start losing opener Harry Jackson (0) to a full delivery from Chambers with the total on 6. The total had reached 20 when skipper Smith (11) nicked behind to put Ards in early trouble. However, a decent partnership between Chris Murray and Calum McDaid helped rebuild the innings until McDaid (7) fell to Cox. Dean Parke (0) quickly followed him back to the hutch and with Glen Warnock (1), Cameron Quinn (1) Ben McKee (4) and Dylan Baillie (0) making fairly small contributions it was left to Chris Murray (28) to be the mainstay of the Ards innings, which will have given him added satisfaction as it was against many of his school mates from Bangor Grammar School. The Ards innings closed on 75 for 9 off the allotted 20 overs which would be difficult to defend.

Bangor were quickly out of the blocks with McPeake (18) playing aggressively before he played on to Calum McDaid with the total on 20. Pyper and Quinn consolidated and took the score to 47 when Ben McKee bowled Pyper (9). With Chris Murray then dismissing Quinn (14) and McKee picking up his second and third wickets dismissing Kerr (8) and Bell (1) Ards gave themselves a glimmer of hope as the Bangor innings wobbled. U13's player Glen Warnock made things even more interesting with his flight deceiving Chambers (6), who was stumped, but McCracken (5no) and Cox (2) brought the scores level before Cox was caught by Ben McKee to leave Bangor 7 wickets down. It was left to Webster (1no) to hit the winning run to secure a narrow but deserved 3 wicket win for Bangor and put Ards' play-off hopes to bed for this season.

Overall the better team on the night securing the victory mainly due to some accurate and straight bowling and good fielding. Unfortunately apart from Chris Murray Ards batsmen failed to fire and 75 just didn't give the bowlers enough to defend despite a valiant effort right until the end.
