Dundrum v Ards Cricket Club Under 15 XI and Graham Cup team on Tue 16 Aug 2016 at 5.30
Ards Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets

Match report The U15's made the long journey to the picturesque foothills of the Mournes to paly Dundrum in the quarter-finals of the league play-offs. Dundrum were strong favourites having top their league section and reached the semi-finals of the Graham Cup earlier in the season losing to eventual winners Derriaghy. Dundrum won the toss and put Ards in to bat and things didn't begin well for Ards as Ethan Davies (0) was bowled by Orr in the 2nd over. Things were get worse for Ards as Orr also bowled Calum McDaid (0) to leave on 8 for 2 after the opening 4 overs. Skipper Harry Jackson and Glen Warwick consoldated against some decent Dundrum bowling until Warwick (5) was bowled by Phillips. Ards' hopes experienced a further setback as Harry Jackson (7) was yorked by S Campbell as Ards score reached 26 for 4. Craig Boobyer (0) ans Dean Parke (1) soon followed their teammates back to the pavilion as Dundrum turned the screw. However, a super partnership of 41 by number 7 and 8 batsmen, Eddie Hawkins and Under 13's player Noah Greenauld brought a measure of respectability to Ards score before Hawkins (18 with 1 boundary) was run out after an unfortunate mix-up. Dominic Allen (0) was then slightly unfortunate to be dismissed by G Campbell and Greenauld who finished 20 not out and Alex Miller (1no) brought the Ards innings to a close on 89 for 8 of the allotted 20 overs.

The Ards boys knew they would have to excel with the ball and in the field. however, the Dundrum batsmen punished anything wide or short as they raced to 93 in 9.4 overs with Ethan Davies picking up the sole wicket of Hutley (29) well stumped by Harry Jackson as Dundrum, with S Campbell (43no) and W Orr (16no), secured a comfortable and well-deserved victory by 9 wickets to progress through to the semi-finals. So disappointment for the Ards boys who will feel they didn't perform to their full potential but still some positives especially the individual performances of Noah Greenauld and Eddie Hawkins.

So this year's league campaign comes to an end but the Ards boys can take a number of positives from the season where a number of individuals contributed with ball, ball and in the field which hopefully they can build upon next season in both under-age or senior cricket.
